Malaysia’s Mahathir Mohamad Gets Hospitalized
Sufi Yusoff explained that although the official medical evaluation is still pending, physicians “suspect a fracture in the hip” of the centenarian statesman.
He was transferred to the National Heart Institute (IJN) located in Kuala Lumpur, the nation’s capital.
“I cannot comment much as we are waiting for a report from the medical team,” Yusoff stated during a phone conversation.
According to his aide, Mahathir, who celebrated his 100th birthday last July, slipped inside his home early Tuesday morning at approximately 7:40 a.m. (0340GMT).
Yusoff further mentioned that the medical team’s findings are anticipated to be issued by late Tuesday, local time.
Mahathir has undergone several medical interventions in the past, including heart bypass operations.
Just last July, he was admitted to the IJN after suffering from exhaustion during a picnic in Putrajaya.
